LoRaWAN Soil pH Sensors Compared: MacSync LSS X4 vs Dragino SPH01-LB vs SenseCAP S2106 vs RAK Sensor Hub with RK500-22

Four LoRaWAN soil pH sensors for polyhouses, plantations, orchards and research plots, for anyone weighing an alternative to the SPH01-LB, the S2106 or RAK's hub-and-probe kit. The differences are the range and the stated accuracy, what each maker says about the electrode and its calibration, battery against mains, IN865 as standard and where the hardware and the support come from. The MacSync LSS X4 has the widest stated accuracy and the narrowest range of the four, and this comparison says so.

Where each fits

What the table means for your site

Where the MacSync LSS X4 fits

A soil-range electrode (3–9 pH, ±0.3) at many points on a battery rated for years or a 20 W solar panel, with threshold alerts, Class C and MacTalk from a phone, IN865 as standard with WPC compliance, and a maker in Pune who states what the datasheet does not cover: electrode type, calibration interval and electrode life.

Where the Dragino SPH01-LB fits

A 3–10 pH probe with a stated electrode construction and user calibration, on an 8,500 mAh battery or solar, with IN865 listed; accuracy is given as a percentage rather than in pH units and support is from Shenzhen.

Where the Seeed SenseCAP S2106 fits

A 0–14 pH water transmitter adapted to soil with ±0.1 pH stated, a replaceable 19 Ah battery and a published cleaning and calibration cycle; a three-piece assembly with long cables.

Where the RAK Sensor Hub with RK500-22 fits

The tightest stated accuracy (±0.05 pH) from a Rika probe with a six-month calibration cycle, on a hub that needs a mains adapter or the maker's solar battery; LoRaWAN or NB-IoT variants.

Questions

Choosing between them

Dragino states the electrode construction and user calibration; Seeed states cleaning every three to six months and calibration every six to twelve; the RK500-22 probe maker states a six-month cycle. The MacSync LSS X4 datasheet states calibration parameters in the Maya app and a stability figure, not an interval; Macnman recommends a lab or buffer check each season.

The MacSync LSS X4, designed and manufactured in Pune, with WPC compliance and RoHS on its datasheet and IN865 as the shipped plan. Dragino and Seeed list IN865 among their plans; RAK's kit comes in LoRaWAN or NB-IoT variants.

The MacSync LSS X4 (19 Ah or solar), the Dragino SPH01-LB (8,500 mAh or solar) and the Seeed S2106 (19 Ah). RAK's Sensor Hub cannot run on batteries and needs a mains adapter or the maker's solar battery.
