LoRaWAN 7-in-1 and Multi-Parameter Soil Sensors Compared: MacSync LSS X5 vs Milesight EM500-SMTC vs Dragino vs SenseCAP S2105

Four ways to get soil data over LoRaWAN. Only one of them reads moisture, EC, pH and an N, P, K trend from a single probe; the others stop at EC, or need three separate sensors. Every figure is from the maker's own page, and every NPK figure on this page is an estimate.

Every value is as each manufacturer publishes it, checked on 18 October 2026. Where a page does not state a figure, the cell says so.

Where each fits

What the table means for your site

Where the MacSync LSS X5 fits

Fertigation, polyhouses, plantations and research plots that want moisture, EC, pH and a nutrient trend from one hole in the ground, on IN865 as standard, with a solar variant for fast reporting and a 19 Ah variant for canopy and shade. It states the NPK limitation on its own datasheet. Made in Pune with WPC compliance and local support.

Where the Milesight EM500-SMTC fits

Moisture, temperature and EC with the tightest stated moisture figure of the four and an IP67 body with an IP68 probe, on a 19,000 mAh cell. No pH and no nutrients; imported, with CE/FCC-type approvals rather than WPC.

Where the Dragino stack fits

Buyers who want each parameter as its own low-cost node: SE01-LB for moisture and EC, SPH01-LB for pH with user calibration, LSNPK01 for N, P, K. Three sensors, three holes and three batteries, configured by AT commands; the NPK pages carry no caveat.

Where the SenseCAP S2105 fits

Moisture, temperature and EC with a large replaceable cell and a phone app for setup, in an IP66 body. No pH or nutrients; IN865 is not shown on the store page.

Questions

Choosing between them

Of the four, only the MacSync LSS X5 does it from one probe. Dragino covers pH and NPK with separate SPH01-LB and LSNPK01 units; Milesight and SenseCAP stop at EC.

No. Independent tests of this probe class (University of Bologna, 2026; ETASR, 2026) found the N, P, K outputs follow the soil's electrical response rather than individual nutrients. Macnman's datasheet calls them a trend estimation; the Dragino pages checked describe a 'TDR method' without a caveat. Use any of them as a trend and keep the lab test for dose decisions.

The MacSync LSS X5 solar variant (8820) pairs a 20 W panel with an 8,000 mAh rechargeable battery, and the Dragino SE01-LS has a solar option with a 3,000 mAh battery. Milesight and SenseCAP are battery only on the pages checked.
