RS485 Modbus to LoRaWAN Converters Compared: MacSync LX1 vs Milesight UC300 vs Dragino RS485-LN
Three ways to put an existing Modbus meter, PLC or transmitter on LoRaWAN. One is a battery or DC datalogger with analog inputs, one is a mains-powered indoor controller with relays, and one is a mains-powered RS485 bridge.

Where each fits
What the table means for your site
Where the MacSync LX1 fits
Meters and transmitters with no supply nearby: water networks, farms, utility assets and tank farms, where a battery datalogger with 4–20 mA and 0–10 V inputs and an IP65 outdoor housing matters. The DC version serves panels, and the MacTalk variant links devices without a gateway. Indian manufacture, WPC compliance and support from Pune come with it.
Where the Milesight UC300 fits
Indoor panels with power that need relays, pulse-counting digital inputs, PT100 inputs and RS232 as well as RS485, with a 4G model for sites without a gateway. Its IP30 metal housing is for inside a cabinet, not outdoors.
Where the Dragino RS485-LN fits
A low-cost mains-powered bridge for a powered RS485 device, with Class C by default for fast downlinks and a wide band list. Configuration is by AT commands and a configure tool.

Questions
Choosing between them
The MacSync LX1 battery version runs for years on a 19 Ah cell, which is what makes remote meters and transmitters practical. The UC300 and RS485-LN are mains-powered; Dragino's RS485-LB and RS485-BL variants add an 8,500 mAh battery for a comparable job.
The Milesight UC300 carries two 3 A relays. Macnman keeps acquisition and control separate: the LX1 reads, and the MacSet LX1 controller with two 16 A relays switches, so each device is sized for its job.
The MacSync LX1 reads two 4–20 mA and two 0–10 V inputs in place of RS485, and the UC300 has two of each plus PT100 inputs. The RS485-LN is RS485 only.
