In plain terms

What Is a Wi-Fi Temperature and Humidity Sensor?

A WiFi temperature and humidity sensor is a battery-operated device that measures the temperature and relative humidity of a space and sends those readings to the cloud over an ordinary Wi-Fi network — with no gateway, hub, or receiver in between. Because it joins the Wi-Fi you already run, a site can be monitored using infrastructure that is already installed and already maintained.

The MacSync Wi-Fi TH Sensor is the industrial version of that idea. It is factory calibrated to ±0.2 °C and 2% RH, connects to dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks with WPA2 or WPA3 security, runs 3 years on a single 19 Ah lithium cell at 5-minute reporting, and stores 30,000 readings in on-board flash so nothing is lost when the network drops. It is rated IP65 and operates from −40 °C to +80 °C, which is what separates it from the consumer plug-in monitors sold for homes and offices.

What it measures
Temperature from −30 °C to +70 °C and relative humidity from 0 to 100%, sampled on an interval you set from 1 minute to 24 hours.
How it connects
Directly to your existing 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network — no gateway, hub, or proprietary receiver to buy or maintain.
Where the data goes
To MQTT brokers, HTTPS endpoints, or your own private cloud, so readings land in the dashboard or system you already use.
Logging and records
It doubles as a WiFi temperature data logger: 30,000 readings are stored in on-board flash, so a network outage or router reboot never leaves a gap in the record.
How it is powered
An industrial 19 Ah Li-SOCl₂ battery for 3 years of maintenance-free operation, or 9–36 V DC for permanently powered installations.
Who it is for
Cold chain and pharma storage, warehouses, server rooms, and any facility that needs audit-ready climate records without new cabling.

Choosing a technology

Wi-Fi vs LoRaWAN vs Bluetooth for Temperature Monitoring

Macnman builds temperature and humidity sensors on all three technologies, so this comparison is about picking the right one for your site — not about selling you a particular radio.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

No. The MacSync Wi-Fi TH sensor connects directly to your existing Wi-Fi network — 2.4 or 5 GHz — there is no hub, gateway, or base station to buy, install, or maintain. If your site has Wi-Fi coverage, you have everything you need.

Yes. The MacSync Wi-Fi TH sensor is dual-band — it connects to both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, so it works on modern mesh systems, enterprise access points, and 5 GHz-only networks where single-band sensors fail.

Nothing is lost. Built-in flash memory stores 30,000 records on the sensor itself, so it keeps logging through router reboots, network outages, and maintenance windows — your temperature and humidity history stays safe on the device.

Yes — it is a wireless data logger and a live sensor in one. Readings are written to 30,000 records of on-board flash and streamed over Wi-Fi at the same time, so you get real-time dashboards plus a complete local history that survives network outages. Logging intervals are configurable from 1 minute to 24 hours.

The MacSync Wi-Fi TH sensor runs 3 years on its industrial 19 Ah Li-SOCl₂ battery even when reporting every 5 minutes — and longer at relaxed intervals, which you set from 1 minute to 24 hours in the Maya app. That's well beyond the 12–24 months typical of AA-powered Wi-Fi sensors.

It is factory calibrated to ±0.2 °C between 0 °C and +70 °C (±0.6 °C below zero) and ±2% RH across the 10–90% humidity range — accurate enough for pharma, cold chain, and compliance-grade monitoring out of the box.

Yes. The sensor operates from −40 °C to +80 °C, and the external-probe variant lets the transmitter stay outside while the probe measures inside freezers, chambers, and enclosures — ideal for cold rooms and vaccine storage.

Yes. The glass-filled nylon enclosure is IP65 rated as standard, with an IP67 optional variant, and its thermal isolation keeps readings stable through rain, dust, heat, and freezing conditions.

Pair with the free Macnman Maya app over Bluetooth: connect the sensor to your Wi-Fi, set sampling intervals, choose periodic, event-based, or hybrid reporting, and define temperature and humidity thresholds. Cross one and the sensor sends an immediate excursion alert — no laptop required.

It streams readings to MQTT brokers, HTTPS endpoints, and private cloud platforms over your existing network — on WPA2 or WPA3 secured Wi-Fi, encrypted end to end, with no vendor lock-in and no gateway hardware in between.

Yes. Continuous data logging with configurable intervals produces audit-ready temperature and humidity history, and every temperature excursion is timestamped — the record-keeping pharma storage, food safety (HACCP), and cold chain compliance programs require.

Choose Wi-Fi when your sites already have good Wi-Fi coverage and you want zero new infrastructure. Choose LoRaWAN for very large sites, deep freezers at long distances, or hundreds of sensors on one gateway. Macnman builds both, on the same calibrated sensing platform, so you can mix them per site.
